Viva La Prima – A Modern Offset Guitar With a Story
From Ancient Woods to Modern Luthiery
GAS Guitarworks is known in Finland as an exceptional guitar workshop, best known for its modern offset guitars and decades of experience in understanding how different tonewoods behave and resonate.
At the heart of this work is GAS’s master luthier, who has worked with everything from traditional tonewoods to rare and demanding materials — from century-old floorboards to ancient sinker logs that have rested underwater for thousands of years.
Through these projects there has grown a deep understanding of how wood lives, dries, resonates and responds in stringed instruments.
Viva La Prima is built on that very foundation. Every instrument crafted over the years, every experiment and every new wood species has left its mark on how this model took shape.
As a modern handmade offset guitar, Viva La Prima blends traditional woodcraft with a distinctly modern design approach.
In Viva La Prima, lightness, playability and a modern interpretation of a classic offset form come together. Carefully selected tonewoods — such as roasted pine, swamp ash, maple and Arctic birch — provide stability, low weight and a natural acoustic character, refined through meticulous craftsmanship and the confidence that only decades of experience can bring.
Viva La Prima is a guitar shaped by deep wood expertise and an uncompromising approach to luthiery. It marks the beginning of a new model — and a continuation of everything GAS Guitarworks has learned over the years.
